83% of Romanians have already made plans for their summer holidays in 2025. The average planned vacation budget for two people is 7,200 lei – an increase compared to the previous year, according to a new study by Raiffeisen Bank in collaboration with Appinio.
1 in 5 Romanians expect to spend less than 3,000 lei, while 35% will allocate between 3,500 and 6,000 lei. Only 5% of respondents said they would spend more than 15,000 lei on their next holiday. Among those not going on vacation or still undecided, 40% cite lack of money or uncertainty as the main reasons.
Inflation and the broader economic context are significantly impacting holiday budgets, with 60% of respondents expecting travel expenses to increase by up to 50% compared to last year. To manage these costs, 58% of Romanians are saving in advance, 43% rely on monthly disposable income, and 2 in 10 use credit cards or holiday vouchers.
When it comes to destinations, most Romanians opt for 5–10 day seaside vacations within the country. Nearly 70% prefer domestic tourism, while Greece, Bulgaria, and Turkey remain the top international choices. Additionally, 25% go for city breaks, and 21% choose faraway destinations with longer stays of up to three weeks.
