Pablo Escobar trademark cannot be registered in the European Union

Pablo Escobar cannot be registered as an European Union trade mark! The name of the infamous drug lord was used by his brother in a claim for a trademark at EUIPO in 2022.

The EU’s intellectual property office rejected the request and the decision was upheld by the European Court of Justice. Escobar’s brother started Escobar Inc, a company based in Puerto Rico, that tries to use Pablo Escobar name for money making purposes.

EUROPEAN MADE | Chinese company Chery Auto will manufacture cars in Spain, its first production facility in Europe. The company will start production later this year at the factory that the Japanese group Nissan closed in 2021.

SALES FREEZE | New car registrations in the European Union fell by 5.2%, the first decline this year and the biggest contraction since July 2022. 1.031 million cars were registered in March 2024 in the European Union.
