Sopsa SA, a multinational company with over 30 years of experience in waste containers solutions, plans to expand across Romania, following a successful collaboration in Bucharest. Sopsa entered the Romanian market in 2023, seeing it as a strategic hub for regional growth in Eastern Europe.
Sopsa’s first major project in Romania is with Sector 6 of Bucharest, consisting of the installation of more than 700 high-capacity underground waste containers, all locally produced. Nearly half of the units have already been installed.
The company operates a production unit in Eli Parks, near Bucharest, occupying 6,400 square meters of industrial and office space, following an initial investment of around EUR 2 million. Romania has the lowest recycling rate in Europe but aims to increase its municipal waste recycling rate from 55% at the end of 2025 to 65% by 2035.
Lasso containers replace traditional waste collection systems with ecological and sustainable underground solutions. It offers large storage capacity, reducing the need for frequent collection trips and contributing to a cleaner, less polluted environment.
Sopsa is an international company, with production units in Portugal and Romania, selling its Lasso underground waste containers in Portugal, France, Denmark, Poland, Romania and Morocco. The objective is to expand operations to other markets in Central and Eastern Europe, due to their proximity to Romania.
