Over 1.300 Romanian patients chose the PremiQaMed hospitals in Austria

PremiQaMed received over 1.300 Romanian patients who chose its hospitals this year, an increase of 45% compared to 2020.

Throughout 2021, the number of Romanian patients who chose the PremiQaMed hospitals is close to reaching the pre-pandemic levels.

For PremiQaMed, Romania placed second in terms of the number of patients, below Ukraine and followed by Germany, Russia, and Slovakia.

One of the Romanian patients’ most demanded medical investigations is the so-called second opinion.

This does not require the on-site presence of the patient and can be performed remotely, as long as the patient’s documentation is provided in English or German.

With the second largest number of doctors per 100,000 inhabitants in the European Union, Austria is currently one of the leading medical tourism destinations.

According to the US International Trade Administration – Commercial Office, the Austrian healthcare system includes 271 hospitals and clinics with around 64,800 available beds.

Approximately 64% of hospital beds are in general hospitals, with 26.6% in specialized clinics and rehabilitation centers and 7% in sanatoriums or long-term care facilities.
