Mugur Isărescu is the new and old governor of the National Bank of Romania

Mugur Isărescu has received a new mandate as governor of the National Bank of Romania. He was elected by the joint plenary of the Chamber of Deputies and Senate in a secret ballot, Bucharest Daily News reports.

Mister Isărescu is the longest-serving central bank governor. He has been governor since 1990, with a short break as prime minister of Romania (from December 22, 1999 to December 28, 2000). Isărescu turned 75 in early August this year.

Leonardo Badea has been appointed Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors and First Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Romania, Florin Georgescu and Cosmin Ștefan Marinescu – members of the Board of Directors and Deputy Governors of the NBR.

Aura Socol, Roberta Anastase, Alexandru Nazare, Csaba Balint, and Cristian Popa have been appointed as members of the Board of Directors of the National Bank of Romania. The new management has a 5-year mandate, starting October 11.
