Mehiläinen, the largest private healthcare provider in Finland, acquired the Regina Maria network in Romania, together with MediGroup, the leading private healthcare provider in Serbia, for a whopping 1,4 billion USD.

The Finnish group is the fastest-growing company in the healthcare sector, with a 115-year history and a presence in five European countries, its home market, Finland, as well as in Sweden, Germany, Lithuania, and Estonia.

Annually, the group serves over 2.2 million clients and reported a revenue of EUR 2,063.5 million in 2024, marking an 11.5% increase compared to 2023. The group’s operations currently encompass over 890 clinics and medical facilities, along with a network of more than 37,000 healthcare professionals.

With over 11,000 employees and collaborators and with locations in every county in Romania, Regina Maria healthcare network has a portfolio of nearly 1 million subscriptions and approximately 13,000 corporate partners, being one of the largest private premium healthcare providers in the country. 

Established in 2013, MediGroup has grown from a few hundred employees to a team of over 2,500 dedicated professionals. With a nationwide presence, it has a network that includes 16 healthcare centers and polyclinics, a general hospital, 3 specialty hospitals, 4 diagnostic centers, and more than 75 laboratories.
