German company DEHN SE, a global specialist in lightning protection, surge protection, and safety equipment, is expanding its European manufacturing network with a new production facility in Pitești. The investment, worth approximately €10 million, supports the rising demand generated by global electrification trends and aims to boost supply capacity for European customers.
Pitești plant gives us the flexibility we need to supply our customers in Europe even better. It underscores our internationalisation efforts and creates future-proof jobs in the greater Bucharest area
Dr. Philipp Dehn, CEO of DEHN SE
Following an extensive location search across Europe, DEHN selected Pitești, a town in Southern Romania, due to its skilled local workforce, excellent logistics infrastructure, and room for long-term growth. The city’s proximity to Bucharest makes it a strategic hub for distribution and talent acquisition.
The new Romanian plant complements DEHN’s existing facilities in Neumarkt and Mühlhausen (Germany), as well as Mooresville (North Carolina, USA). While those sites will focus on high-volume automated production, Pitești will specialize in customised surge protection products requiring manual precision.
Construction is set to begin with a ground-breaking ceremony, kicking off an estimated 10-month building phase. Production is expected to start by mid-2026, with up to 150 new jobs created in the first phase.
